PADEL NEW ZEALAND TOUR 2025

Padel New Zealand Tour 2025 - that’s a wrap!

The Padel New Zealand Tour 2025 has come to an exciting close - marking another milestone year for padel in Aotearoa.

This year’s tournaments brought players together from across the country and delivered three memorable events, each with its own atmosphere, challenges, and standout moments. From the energy in Tauranga, to the intensity of winter competition in Wellington, to a vibrant finale in Auckland, the inaugural tour showcased the passion, dedication, and spirit within our growing community.

Thank you to every player, club, volunteer, and supporter who helped make the first-ever Padel New Zealand Tour possible.

We’re proud to have provided this early series of tournaments in 2025.

Looking Ahead in 2026

Padel New Zealand delivered three national-level events in 2025 to create valuable opportunities for players to compete while many clubs were still developing their courts, facilities, and player bases. At that early stage, this higher level of central delivery was intentional and appropriate, and the national series played an important role in setting benchmarks, building visibility, and creating a shared competitive reference point across the country. Seeing the strong engagement from players confirmed the value of this approach during padel’s initial establishment phase in Aotearoa New Zealand.

With those systems now in place - and with more courts operating and club communities becoming established - the competition framework for 2026 reflects the next phase of the sport’s growth. This phase focuses on long-term sustainability, shared responsibility, and expanding competitive opportunities.

Looking ahead, the 2026 tournament structure will evolve as the sport continues to develop. Competitions will operate within a two-tier structure, maintaining a clear national competition pathway (Tier 1) while enabling affiliated clubs to play a central role in delivering competitive opportunities (Tier 2) within the Padel New Zealand framework.

Tier 1 represents the national competition pathway and benchmark, operating under Padel New Zealand governance, standards, and oversight.

Tier 2 consists of sanctioned club competitions, delivered entirely by affiliated clubs while operating within the Padel New Zealand Sanctioned Competition Framework. Sanctioned club competitions award Padel New Zealand ranking points (Tier 2 - at a lower weighting than Tier 1 national events) when delivered in line with the approved framework.

The sanctioned model for 2026 is designed to support both clubs and players and to expand competitive opportunities beyond what centrally delivered events alone can offer. By enabling clubs of different sizes to participate within a shared national framework, this structure is designed to create more opportunities to compete locally and across regions.

For players, this means clearer pathways, more consistent competition standards, and recognised outcomes through Padel New Zealand’s ranking system.
For clubs, it provides a shared framework that supports competition delivery without requiring each club to rebuild formats, rules, or processes from scratch.

Together, this approach strengthens the connection between club-level competition and the national pathway, while supporting the continued growth of padel across Aotearoa.
